It's been awhile since I shared a recipe on Hello Honey; when my shoe collection grows my recipe book seems to gather dust. I love baking but I hardly get around to it anymore. This recipe is one of our trusty favorites, deemed "Cupid's brownies" because you're sure to fall in love at first bite. And with Valentine's Day quickly approaching, these make the perfect sweet treat for parties & hand-outs. I'll never go back to boxed brownies again. Well, on occasion I will. Sometimes I'll even buy the premade frosted ones at the grocery store. But when I'm wanting the best, I make these.
The recipe is simple and the brownies are incredibly dense; it's almost like a mix between rich fudge and moist chocolate cake. Basically, heaven.
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 sticks melted butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup flour
1 cup Valentine's M&M's
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 9x9 inch pan with cooking spray and line with parchment paper. Set aside.
Heat the butter in a small saucepan until JUST melted. In the bowl of a stand mixer, place the sugar, salt, and butter and mix until combined. Allow to cool for 5 minutes. Then, on medium speed, add eggs, one at a time, until combined. With the mixer on low, slowly add the cocoa powder, one spoonful at a time. Then add the flour, and 1/2 cup of the M&M's.
Using a spatula, spread the batter in the prepared pan. Sprinkle with the remaining M&M's and bake 30-35 minutes, or until just set. Let cool.

Skip the M&M's or use other colors for different holidays and events, they're yummy either way! Happy Baking!
