I'm sorry for the poor quality of these photos- it was rainy and dark in Houston all last week when I took them. I didn't do much in the way of Christmas decor for my office this year and had originally planned to string those lights around the deer antlers. As you can see, half of the strand wouldn't work so after a solid twenty minutes of wrestling with them, I gave up and settled for a pink santa hat and ornaments instead. I love understated holiday decor that isn't overwhelming or "too much", so a few pink touches made just the right statement for this space! Some lights would've been nice too...next year I'm definitely ordering these (my Mom has and loves them).
Today is my Dad's birthday so we ate dinner at a favorite local spot, Skeet's, and celebrated after with my Mom's yummy homemade lemon chess & chocolate pies (Dad's request instead of cake). Bear talked all day about how his job was to "help Papa Steve blow out his candles" and he was thrilled when the time finally rolled around to sing Happy Birthday. We also took Bear to get pictures with Santa this afternoon; he had already seen and sat in Santa's lap at our mall back home but we didn't get pictures the first go-around. We probably should have, because the Santa at the Abilene Mall was less than stellar. Bear still smiled for the picture, so we're calling it a success.
Is this week dragging for anyone else? We are loving being in our hometown with our families and it's refreshing to have life slow down a little bit, but I'm so anxious and excited for Christmas! I can't wait to see Bear's face on Sunday morning when he wakes up and sees what Santa's left under the tree. He's going to be one happy little boy. All I know is, he better be leaving Santa a nice big batch of cookies (and milk).
