Last (last) weekend, I attended the very first Houston Blogger Brunch hosted by Stephanie Jackson. The event was held in Nordstrom at The Woodlands Mall, and my sweet friends Alice and Jaclyn both spoke to the group about their success in blogging. They held an informative Q&A, and I loved seeing Alice's picks of summer trends. It was also wonderful to meet new faces and of course chow down on some delicious brunch. I may or may not have eaten five pieces of bacon. I mean...I don't really like eggs so I had to eat something, right? It's also only fair to note that I could have eaten more, that was me exercising self control.
What I love so much about this community of creatives is that everyone builds each other up; the "community over competition" motto really does ring true. I grew up playing competitive sports and that continued all the way through college, so it's hard for me to grasp the concept that people on different "teams" can actually help one another. This isn't the case only for bloggers, it goes for all creative types such as photographers, graphic designers, small business owners, etc. When we come together and throw around ideas, it's amazing how many opportunities and friendships grow from that one conversation.
Change of subject... Tonight I went to an event at Elaine Turner that my friend Dede was hosting, and as soon as I walked in the door I was teased by the aroma of delicious chicken biscuits. Elaine Turner boutiques are high end, beautiful stores; the point of the event was to introduce their new Southern Charm Bar. True to the South, there was tea, banana pudding in mason jars, and the yummiest chicken sandwiched between a homemade, flaky biscuit. They seriously rivaled Whataburger's honey butter chicken biscuit, and that's saying something. I'm kicking myself for not throwing three or four extras in my purse because I'm really wanting another one as I type this. Anybody wanna make a midnight Whataburger run?
Thank you for reading! And a big thank you to sweet Stephanie for hosting this beautiful event!
