pumpkin painting party

In the south, we use the term "party" a little loosely. Truth is, this was more of a small gathering. Actually, it was three mommas and four babes...but trust me, it was loud enough to be a rave. Just ask the neighbors.

Last Friday, we met Bear's friends at Freddy's to celebrate the comeback of the Pumpkin Pie Concrete. If you live anywhere near a Freddy's, you have got to get one. They literally take a piece of pumpkin pie and cram it into a cup full of delicious vanilla custard. Then they mix it all up and top it with whipped cream and cinnamon. I could keep going but I think you get the picture. It's pretty much the best thing ever.

After eating our weight in ice cream and french fries, everyone came over to play and paint pumpkins. I saw some mini pumpkins painted to look like donuts on Pinterest a few weeks back and my good friend Aimey whipped them right up; they came out so cute! We're attending a real pumpkin painting party on Wednesday and I can't wait to see what the kids come up with. This time of year is so special and full of neat activities.

If you have toddlers, I highly suggest a plastic tablecloth that you can throw away after they paint. It's too hot in Houston to do much outside, and I was impressed with what little mess our toddlers made in the kitchen. The pumpkin sippees came from Dollar Tree and the kids loved them. Dollar Tree also has some cute black cat sippees and lots of other fun (inexpensive) decor. Even the paper straws came from there. Aimey found the small white pumpkins at Kroger which turned out to be perfect for making "donuts".

I'm hoping to host another playdate party this fall but am lacking on theme ideas. Any suggestions? I'd love to hear!

Cheers to a new week and the beginning of fall!
