what's in my bag
I'm one of those weird people who like to see what other women carry around with them, so I thought I'd share my bag contents in case some of you are weirdos, too. :)
Growing up, I always referred to my carry-all as a "purse". It wasn't until a few years ago (after moving to the big city) that I realized everyone else was calling them "handbags" or just "bags" for short. In fact, if I referred to my handbag as a purse, my friends would look at me like I was from another planet. I've been carrying purses (sorry friends) for as long as I can remember. Proof:
In my high school and college days, I carried one bag until it was worn out. Basically I'd get a new purse for Christmas, carry it for twelve months until the handles were peeling off and the insides looked...gross. They looked gross. Then I'd replace it with another poor innocent victim, just waiting to have Diet Coke spilled all over it.
Nowadays, I try to take a little better care of my bags. I also switch up the one I'm carrying almost daily, so I have to be a bit more organized when it comes to contents. Everything pretty much has a place and I try to be minimal with what I tote around, though you will find the occasional Chick Fil A receipt (or french fry) in a side pocket.
Here's what I carry on the daily:
bag: I love this Rebecca Minkoff satchel. The color is rose quartz, Pantone's 2016 color of the year, and it can transition from season to season. It's also nice and roomy, which I love. Don't pretend like you never sneak in bottled Cokes and Sour Patch Kids into the movie theatre.
planner: My sis-in-law gave me this Kate Spade planner for Christmas and I'm a huge fan. I write everything in it; if I lose this thing I'm in trouble.
lip maximizer: You've heard me rave about this Dior Lip Maximizer 87 times but I'm giving it a shout-out yet again. It makes my lips feel completely renewed and is worth every penny.
make-up case: This holds all of my lipstick and a few other make-up essentials like highlighter and concealer. It's the only gym bag I own, so I'm proud of it. *from HomeGoods
sunnies: Always have at least one pair! Loving these currently.
glasses: Surprise...I'm a four-eyes! My eyes aren't awful, and I don't even have to wear contacts. I'm just supposed to wear my glasses when I drive, especially a night, so I always keep them with me. I have this Versace pair and they've been great.
wallet: Been going steady with this little Kate Spade number for close to a year now. I wasn't sure if I'd like the zip closure or if the blush color would get too dirty, but this wallet has been a trooper. I just can't give her up!
coffee thermos: Yes, I do carry around my coffee thermos in my purse. Please don't judge me.
water bottle: Okay okay so, I'll fess up here. I usually forget this bottle and end up throwing a couple plastic Ozarka bottles in my bag instead. I know how terrible plastic bottles are for the environment though, so I'm trying to do better. *from Old Navy
phone, sanitizer, snacks, gum: All of these are very, very important. I have an iPhone 5s with an Otterbox case that I never want to take off because it's protected my phone through all kinds of trauma (I'm looking at you, Bear). Macarons are not always stashed in my bag, usually it's more along the lines of Goldfish or fruit snacks. But sometimes we like to pretend to be fancy.
