5 tips for moms on a budget

As a busy mom of two little boys, I don’t get a lot of extra time. When I’m not working, we’re either running to basketball games, t-ball practice, choir practice, or to pick up food for said boys. I was never one for grocery shopping (not a fan!) but these days I just don’t want to spend any extra time I have at the store. That’s why Walmart’s Online Grocery service is a no-brainer. I save time by having a personal shopper do the all the work for me. And for some extra savings: New customers can use promo code TRIPLE10 to save $10 off their first three pickup or delivery orders. $50 min. Restrictions & fees apply.

Walmart also has low-price quality private brands, you don’t have to feel like you are “trading down”. With Great Value, Marketside, Sam’s Choice and Freshness Guaranteed you are able to add more items to your basket and still provide your family the meals they love. Organic, keto, and vegan products are no longer out of budget. I love that we can eat healthy meals without spending a fortune at the grocery store. Sharing a recent delivery order below!

If you like instant coffee like me, this Great Value Colombian Coffee is the best ever!
The boys love spaghetti and meatballs, so that’s a weekly staple in our house. This Great Value Organic Roasted Garlic Pasta Sauce is amazing, especially paired with Sam’s Choice Premium Angus Meatballs.
One last shout-out to Great Value Hazelnut Spread which tastes just as good at Nutella for about half the price.

5 Money Saving Tips for Moms:

1. Choose pick-up/delivery. It’s so easy to overbuy on groceries without a list. But even armed with a list, going physically into the supermarket might lead you to put a lot more in your cart than you’d planned. Sure, you might use some of those impulse purchases anyway, but I bet a few of them will go to waste. Shop online at Walmart here.
2. Dare to compare. Walmart offers organic, high quality products without the high price tag. With low-price quality private brands, you don’t have to feel like you are “trading down” when you buy Walmart Brands.
3. Enjoy free activities. No matter where you live, there are always some things to do that don’t require money if you get creative enough. Here’s a great list of free things to do in Houston for other locals! Google “free things to do in ____ (your city)” and you might be surprised at what you find.
4. Use a large freezer. If you have one (and the space for it), an extra freezer has money-saving potential for moms on a budget. This makes it easier if you notice a certain item at a low sale price and want to stock up; you can freeze foods you buy at a discount.
5. Swap babysitting/childcare with a friend. Our boys love this! Childcare is expensive, as I’m sure you know. This helps us save money and gives our kids a chance to play with some friends. Basically, one day I will watch a friend’s kids and then another day when I need childcare, she will watch my kids. If you can find someone that you trust to swap childcare with, this is a great option to save money.
